hey guys!

I need help identifying this little fellow... recently some fish in my tank has just disappeared... then only suspect atm is this serpent star.

Can someone tell me if this is a species that captures fish? If its not a "fish eater" i dont have a freakin clue what has happened to my fish.. I havent noticed any mantis sounds or similar..

I took the pictures with the flash on the camera, irl hes much darker, almost black...

It is some sort of brittle star. I have heard that the large full-grown ones have eaten sleeping fish, but I don't think one that small would do any harm.

I had a black one, pretty big and I lost a goby, mandarin and fairy wrasse. I gave it to the LFS and since then no more losses. Logic

I've seen large brittle stars eat sleeping fish first hand. When looking for creatures at night with a red lens flashlight I just happen to see a star perch over a mandarin, and it caught it by placing legs on all sides and lowered itself down. I was freaking out of course. I wasnt able to get the star off in time to save the fish. I've heard similar accounts from fellow reefers. Hope this helps.
Cheers
