Help with Kalk

Hey-

I now have enough room to start my auto top off to the side of my tank. What is the best way to keep the Kalk stored? Only 30g total volume so I am thinking a five gallon bucket with lid. Do I want to let the Kalk settle and draw from the middle of the bucket, or should I put a power head in the bucket and drip all of the solution? Please give me your thoughts on Kalk brands. Curently I am using Kent and am not very happy compared to the previous Two Little Fishes.

Thanks

Pat

I have a Kalk reactor tied to an aqua-lifter which is then tied to an auto-topoff switch.

My top-off water resides in a 5-gallon water jug. I use Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime rather than Kalk. The Kalk reactor mixes the kalk in the reactor for several minutes every hour (I can't remember the timing as it is controlled by my AC Jr.). It dissolves the kalk and keeps the material in suspension (so it doesn't clump to the bottom).

You need to drip the kalk solution in very slowly or you will wind up shocking the system.

Thanks Raddogz
I have dripped in the past with my medical grade doser. The main question I have is; can I use all the mix if I have a power head continually mixing the water?

I think you answered that with your reactor mixing every hour.

I use a Tunze auto topoff setup with a Calcium dispensor. The simple fact that the water gets drawn through the calcium depensor keeps it mixed. You just add a bit of powder and shake now and then.... I disable the pump once I've added new poweder to let it clear.
