Hello all, a problem I need advice on, set up my 37 gal with uncured live rock cycle for about 6 weeks all readings were good. at 8 weeks added a clean up crew snails and hermit crabs waited another 2 weeks then added 2 false percula clowns they WERE great until 2 weeks after that I added a royal gramma that had 3 small white spots (didn’t quarantine) (stupid on my part) well week and half later 1 clown dead and gramma I assume is dead I haven’t seen it in three days. I removed the other clown fish and a friend has it.
Now from the reading I ved done I came to the conclusion that it is marine velvet. I was going to let the tank run for 4 weeks so that the marine velvet can crash and DIE. I will do water changes every week about 25% and vacuum the live sand also. I have purchase a 10 gal tank to use as a quarantine tank. Does this sound like a good plan or do I need to do more??? Also will the snails and hermit crabs be OK?

37 gal reef tank,
55 lbs of LR
40 lbs live sand
Remora c protein skimmer
Fluval 405 canister filter
Heater
and coralife PC 2x65 watt
2 1200 maxi jets
10 snails
10 hermit crabs

I am unsure whether you have marine velvet or not ... marine velvet is one of the more difficult diseases to diagnose and sometimes its mistaken for other diseases. Your clownfish may have had brooklnella (aka clownfish disease) or even simple stress. Regardless ... ichs pretty easy to diagnose and if you think one of your fish had ich then chances are your tanks infected with ich and I suggest you leave your tank without fish for at least 5 weeks (some would say 6 weeks) since ich need fish to perpetuate their life cycle a fishless tank will eventually should cure itself .. this fallow period may help with whatever other disease you may have had.
