Help with my clown

Hello guys and gals

I have a maroon clown that has been with me for over a year. It was with another clown but I had a temp rise and one of them die.

So my clown has been with no other moroon for over a year. He then turned black and I mean totally black. I added a carpet anenome. He don't bother with it. So one day I decided like 5 months ago. To get him a companion.

He kill it. So I say u can wait then. About 2 months ago I got a much smaller yellow strip maroon and again he went after him every moment that he could

I had to take the smaller one out and into my sump to let him heal
After about a month I put him back specially since I notice that the moroon was getting allnofna sudden it's color back. Some of it anyways. Well no good big bad boy went after it like he stole something from him. AFTER I took him off again now the black/maroon clown it's been realllly friendly to the carpet anenome.


My questions are:

Why did it turn black?
Why is it coming back to maroon
The other maroon it's much smaller will I Eva be able to add it back into the tank?
And or should I go and get another one much bigger and see if they can pair?

I don't know why the clown turned black but I can tell you it's a she, not a he. What you might do is construct a container that will allow water to flow freely through it and place the smaller clown and it in the tank with her. Give it a few weeks and she if she warms up to him and if she does, release the smaller one into the tank.
