Help with my first zooanthid

Hi everyone. I had a quick question that I was hoping someone could possibly answer.

I am very new to this hobby and have just recently purchased my first zooanthid. It's a multi-colored center. It was purchased on Saturday, about 5 days ago.

Everything seems to have been going well. This morning it was all opened and seemed fine. Tonight, when I got home, it was partially closed and has been that way since around 8pm or. My white lights went off at 10.

All my water parameters are check fine and everything else in the tank is doing well. Is this normal for it to have been closed? Or is there a sign something may be wrong. I'm just not sure how to spot a problem, if there is one.

In case this helps, I have 2 Ocellaris clowns, tank raised and 2 green chromis. 3 Turbo snails, 5 nassarius snails and 5 blue legged hermits. Besides the multi colored center zooanthid, I also have a green star polyp and a button polyp. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm hoping that I have provided enough info for some responses.

Thank you.

I wouldnt worry about that it could be anything... Sometimes snails or crabs bother it or even the fish... Just give a little time, and see what happens tomorrow... It should open just fine tomorrow when the lights are on...

u most liklu have nothing to worry about, ive had entire colonies( 50-60 polyps) all closed up when i get home, they usually open back up in a few min to over night. fish and inverts epecially snaills and hermit craps walk all over them.

good luck on your new reef!
if conditions r optimal u r going to b blown away when u see how fast zoos multiply

these colonies started with 5-10 polyps(sorry crappy pic)

Great! Thank you very much for your help and input. I'll check it out tomorrow and keep an eye on it. I had a feeling that I was "micro-watchting" it. I seem to have a habit of doing that with everything in the tank!

Thank you again!

So far, my conditions seem to be optimal. But, my tank has only been up since September, so I'm a real newbie at this whole thing. Your pic's look great and I really can't wait to see mine multiply. I can't believe that it's taken me so long to get into this aspect of the fish hobby...the whole salt end. I just wind up sitting and staring forever!
