Help with my new Apex controller

Im sure this issue has been posted on here several times, but Im new to the whole controller thing. Reading the manual is a foreign language to me.

I had a friend help me set up the controller last night so I could access it from my computer on my home network and i could also access it from my phone which I assume is outside of my home network.
I woke up this morning and couldnt log on, I checked my apex and the IP address was different from what it was last night.

I was wondering if there is a crash course on how I could get this set up properly. There is a way to set it up so you can get on the web at any time without having to worry about the ip address changing, right??

Thanks for any help

You need static IP addresses, both on the controller and for your modem. Doing it on your controller is easy and well documented. Doing it on your modem is impossible as your ISP controls that. Therefore, you use a static name that you define and let someone/something else take care of associating that static name with a changing IP address. This is called Dynamic DNS and is also documented.

That's the 'crash course'. Now, we need to figure out where you're having the problem with getting that configured.
