Help with new fish selection..

after a recent storm a few weeks ago we had lost power for about 2 days. during this period i lost some livestock before i had a chance to setup a generator... the tank didnt crash but some stuff was not happy and did not survive the first night. i basicly have been looking around online and at my LFS's for some nice fish to restock my tank with. my problem is every time i find some fish i like, i read about them and for some reason or another i have to pass on them. they either will eat something in my tank or are not compatable with a fish i still have. so let me start off with some info to help out.

tank: 60g with lots of live rock, very well established, alittle algea here and there for a herbavore to pick at, lots of hiding spots, 2-3" sand bed and very good water quality.

stock list at this time: Pair of skunk clowns, neon dottyback, 1 nice sized clam, 2 brittle stars, 2 serpent stars, conch, sand sifting cucumber and of course the various mix of hermits and other snails. all the shrimp and other inverts died. also in the tank are LPS, zoas and other softies.. no SPS in this tank as of this time.

the neon dottyback is one mean fish... when i first put him in the tank he would pick on every fish until he got used to everything. i am a huge wrasse fan and am used to having them, but every book i have read says to keep them away from the dottyback. so they are outa the question, i also love dwarf angels.... but this is just one of those fish that for the life of me i have never been able to keep in any of my tanks long term. i have tried them all thru out the years and no luck.

tangs... i have had a few small tangs in this tank that thrived when they were young and i actually lost my yellow tang thru this. but they really do need a bigger tank and im going to hold off on them this time around until i am able to get a bigger tank.

i am really wanting to get something that is interactive, not really shy, not the normal fish you see every where if i can help it and of course compatible with my current stock list. Soooo what are some ideas here?

I really like my new Midas Blenny. Very reef/tankmate safe and fun to watch, always swimming out in the open, great 'personality'.

I know at first glance they just look yellow, but they have some really pretty detail if you look close.

A couple non-reefers have said "cool little eel!"

So you only have 3 fish in the tank? There are a few wrasses that would put the dottyback in its place. how about a foxface or rabbitfish

If your tank is covered (not egg crate) flasher wrasses are fun. I am just concerned with the neon dottyback with this recommendation.

it is in fact covered and there would be no problem with jumping. i fixed that problem long ago and made a top out of window screen frame and pond bird netting.

i am however worried about the dotty back and all the things i have read saying for me to never put them n the same tank. i have always had a wrasse in my tanks in the past until now and really would love to have one again. would hate to spend the money on them to only have them die from fighting.
