Help with ph levels...

I have my system hooked up to a reef computer where it monitors many parameters and I am seeing a pattern develop. my ph seems to go from 8.07 to 8.23 during most days but every 7 days or so it will drop bellow 7.85 and it is visible on the graph below. I'm wondring what is causing this or if this is normal? are the ph levels ok? or should they idealy be higher or over 8.3? if so what can I do to raise it?

I can provide any other info. just not sure which is most important in terms of ph?

pH will change throughout the day due to temp/light cycle so that's normal but a swing from 8.3 to 7.8 is a little much IMO.. Is there enough aeration in your water? Hmm...Turning on/off a skimmer? 8.3 is a good target...much higher and you'll have issues

I do use ozone if that helps... but that actually increases my aeration. i never turn off my skimmer at all.

I wouldn't say its a swing from 8.3 to 7.8... as daily swings are much less than that. its just that I notice that usually one day out of the week the ph drops lower than other days. any suggestions on what I can try?

ok I think you may be onto something. I will keep this in mind the next week or so to see. I have a zero edge style tank where water overflows over the sides of the tank and the tank is rimless and without cover. so it is completly exposed to the room it is in. So, several days a week I had to close the windows and put the ac on instead for cooling. should I run a line from the outside into my skimmer or something to get it more oxygen? thanks

I'm not so sure if it's onto something...I mean...The O2 levels in the room would have to drop a pretty high amount...And you'd notice the lack of O2 in the air...The 'stuffy' feeling. This seems like a real longshot to me...But it's the only thing I can think of with temp constant. Also if it's a regular pattern you'd be having to do the exact same thing every week... Hmm...Other sources of CO2 in your tank/house? Tank near something? *shrug*

One other thought. It also looks like the drops are at around 8:30am. Longshot but is the tank in a room with a door closed? maybe something in the room kicks on during the night...builds up and causes ph to drop on a regular basis..geez. I still think it may just be normal lol.

yeah... I'm not so sure as the room is still closed and ac on today and after last night the ph dropped and is headed in the right direction again. last night it was as low as 7.83 and now its been climbing steadily and is at 8.07. It may be a natural occurance or cycle in the ph levels as it seems to be happening once a week where it takes a lower dip but it also goes real high as well at least once a week. I have plants in the room but those should be taking in Co2 and releasing O2 through photosynthesis. I do use a cal. reactor that is fed co2. perhaps a leak? nothin indicates a leak though as the ph2 probe in the reactor stays where it needs to.

Do you have an illuminated refugium? If so, is it lit at night? If so, is it on an automatic timer? If so, do you have it programmed to NOT come on one of the days of the week or for the entire weekend?

Any other timers that might be programmed to turn off...on a Sunday for example that might influence the pH levels?
