Help with phosban reactor please

Hi, my friend was kind enough to hook me up with a phosban reactor and about 1/2lb of pellets(unknown brand). Im not sure exactly how to install the phosban reactor. I have a maxi jet 900 pump I was going to use with it, the phosban reactor has a valve on it to adjust the speed. My questions are, do I use the mj to take water in from the overflow section in my sump to the phosban reactor and then install a hose to push out water into the return section? do I have to wash the pellets before use? How much do I use? How do I know what tumble looks like? Sorry if these questions are really noobie. thanks.

dont know if im right here as we all have our own ways, i just sit the reactor on the sump near the skimmer which is near the input from the tank and both pipes are almost together, as for washing the pellets, well i usually switch on the reactor and put a bucket by the side of the sump then allow a gallon or so to go through the reactor until the water is clear then stick the pipe back in the sump, this works for me

I believe TLF brand of GFO "Phosban" does not recommend rinsing the media prior to use. when I used it on my 90g, I would fill the reactor with about 3'' of media. connect the pump to the inlet and adjust to where the top 1/4'' or so of the media is gently rolling. you do not want vigorous movement as the media could break apart. change when phosphates begin to rise.

not sure about the media, you'd have to reference the manf info for that, but like Michael I just stick the whole reactor in the water. I split off from my calcium reactor to supply it, and then I just let it dump right back into the same section of the sump.

My MJ pumps water into the reactors out of the skimmer section of my sump, and the output hose empties into my return section.

I don't wash the media. I just hook up the reactor in the sump, then run the output into a bucket for about the first 3 gallons, (until the water runs clear), before sticking the output hose back into the sump.
