help with picking fish for a 75g

I just moved to michigan so once we get settle in I have the go ahead by my parents that i can build a 75-100g tank in are basement.

Sence I still go to college and I want this thing affordable I decided to go with a 75g this will be the biggest tank I ever had I know its sad but I will take what i can get.:spin1:

Colors i like blues, greens, oranges, reds and mostly any other bright or eye striking colors. pretty much any fish in the ocean i guess.

Fish don't have to be reef compatiable because im still learning about building a reef tank so I dont know if im going to go that route or just live rock. Guess i could always add some mushrooms or coral as I learn about them.

Fish that I like

Tang of some sort maybe I know most them need big tanks tho
wrasse
magnificant fox fish-lfs has a really nice one don't know much about them
gobby
trigger
hawk
clownfish maybe like them but would like fish that are less often seen in home aquariums more origanal fish I guess.
dwarf angel
butterfly fish
puffer fish smaller species tho maybe

Theres a list of fish I like I know they all can't go together so woundering if you guys could help on a stocking list that would be great thank you.

My filter system will be a sump with a reef dynamics ins100 protien skimmer, and a fuge area with some chaeto and if i got extra live rock some in there i guess.

Tangs: Your limited to tomini, kole, or maybe a yellow (for a while)
Fox: one spot yellow is an easy choice
forget the trigger
Butterfly depends upon your coral desires
puffer too

I'd go with the Kole tang and because he said he is not building a reef right now the Heniochus butterfly is easy to care for and would work fine in a 75g. I had one for a while and it accepted flake food right away! Adds some black to the tank which actually looks pretty cool.

thanks for the response guys looked both those tangs up and i gotta say i like them both guess i will do some research on them. Were you talking about a bristletooth tomini and a yellow eye kole?I like them I think the lfs i went to yesterday actually had a kole tang.

So far this is the list unless somthing I research says diffrent

Kole or tomini tang

One spot fox face

Wrasse of some sort maybe?always wanted one

As far as a butterfly fish I love them but I think if I got one with the other two my tank would be over crowded.

Also thinking about a blennie or maybe a pair of black and white ocellaris clown fish? Never had a fox face would it be ok with these guys?

new list
kole tang maybe might ditch the tang idea
one spot fox face
pair of clown fish not decided what kind
blenny
wrasse of some sort havent decided
If I don't go with a tang anyone have any exspereince with any dwarf angels that might be reef safe?

The closest you will get to "reef safe" w/ angels are the pygmy species, such as a cherub angel. A very pretty fish actually, deep blueish purple w/ the orange face.

Something you seem to have over looked is a "schooling fish":

Assessors, Cardinalfish, Gramistes Blenny, Canary Blenny, (NOT B/G chromis). With the exception of the assessors these guys are pretty cheap too.

You might consider a nice ORA dottyback as well. They are small, personal, and not nearly as aggressive as some of the wild caught species.

Wrasse: Flasher's, Fairies, Green "coris", Yellow "coris", Christmas, six-line, mystery, exquisite, etc.

But, definetly start w/ the reef safe stuff and at least add mushrooms, ricordea, zoo's, palys, leathers, etc. Tanks look so much better with corals.

yea i was going to start out with some mushrooms I like them alot and i was looking at the canary blennies I think I am going to get some of them to.

I have a 75 g reef. 2 clowns, 1 diamond goby (the other of the pair just jumped), fox face, melarius wrasse, midas blenny and 3 royal grammas in QT. Going to get a lot more fish in it for the wow factor.

Sorry to hear about your loss

Yea that's why not for sure on the tang don't want to put him through slot of moves

I'm certian on the fox face always loved these guys.
Im also looking at the Midas blennies.
Also a pair of black and white ocellaris clowns.
Would like a active fish like a tang but not a tang any suggestions?

Sorry if I spelled some stuff wrong on my IPod.
