Help with purigen

I am getting tired of having to clean my glass twice a day. It fills up with that dusty green algae. I heard that purigen might help with this problem.

I am wondering how much of this stuff should I put in a media bag? I have a 55 gallon with a 10 gallon sump.

Also, how long does this stuff last.

Thanks

Purigen wont really do much for algae directly. Sounds like you have a phosphate issue and GFO would be a better thing to help you. Purigen basically does what carbon does.

Yeah I think you can get a good explanation of exactly how Purigen works on the Seachem sponsor forum...
But basically it does help with an excess nutrient problem which will in turn help with algae problems.

I used Purigen, until finished the bottle, but didn't see any effect at all, unlike after carbon, visually or parameters change. Maybe it has a very gentle action. Amount you can find on their website - seachem.com (I hope, that this is allowed, they are a sponsor here).

I also rather would think about phosphate remover and adjusting skimmer for a better skimming.
