I had this remote with my D40x, it works well when you are to the side or infront of the camera. Supposedly it will work on the D50, and it is very cheap.
Don't know if what I have will work on a D50, but they are what I use on my D200. The M1 is just a shutter release. You can use the camera to set the time. The MC-36 is the bomb. Very programable.
I also have the MC-36, and like it for the most part. For whatever reason you can't turn it off without removing the batteries, I guess they forgot something there. But, I don't think the D50 has a 10pin input so I don't think it would work.
I don't have a super fancy remote, but that sure would be nice. I was hoping to shoot a space shuttle in 3 hours but a hydrogen leak postponed everything. A remote like that would be beautiful on a carefully calculated launch.
