I lost my test kit instructions for my salifert magnesium test kit. Actually they just got wet at some point so I tossed them out because they were unreadable. When I did a search for the instructions online I found multiple sets of different directions. Some said to use 3 ml of water and others said 2. Some said to use 4 drops of fluid while others said 6 drops. I don't know if it is appropriate to put the links on here but there is some very conflicting information out there and I was wondering if anyone could clarify this for me?

Ouch! I think I already found the answer....sorry! the reagents were changed somewhere and some of these instructions I am seeing are from an older version. It says so, right there on the instructions, right where it should. DOH!

My salifert kit is 2ml water then eight drops of #1 swirl 30 sec, one spoon reagent swirl 10 sec then the 1ml thing. As far as I remember anyway.

My salifert mg test kit is 2ml water and then 4 drops of #1 swirl 30 seconds. 1 spoon of reagent, swirl for 10 seconds, then the 1 ml thing.

The Cal and Alk salifert kits have the low resolution option. Im too chicken to try it , but does anybody do the low resolution tests.

The problem is that on the bottle I wrote down 6 drops for the first step, but I have yet to come across a version of directions that uses that number of drops. I found a thread in another forum where someone else has the same issue. For those that are in the same situation as myself. The old version (like the one I have) uses 3 ml of water and 6 drops of bottle number 1.
I believe these test kits came with a 5ml syringe instead of the two ml syringe. I didn't think this test kit was that old, but then I again I don't test magnesium that often anymore.
