Help with sand choice

I want for sure eventually a dragonet and or a jawfish. Both require sand correct? I also perhaps want a cucumber and/or bristle star to help with detritus. Any sand suggestions? I heard to go with like a 2" sand bed. Any benefit of adding sand to fuge as well? Thanks

Dry caribsea special grade reef sand...
On average 1lb per gallon is good for most tanks to achieve roughly a 2" sand bed but there is a sand calculator if you really want to be accurate with it.. IMO a 2" sand bed is perfect to sand sifters/dwellers. and is usually enough in most tanks to come up over the bottom trim enough to make it visible/pleasant to the eye

As to in a fuge.. Since you asked I would answer with a no...

Live sand and too small IMO..
Both reasons to avoid it to me..

I personally avoid "live" sand as its typically more "dead" than "live" from sitting on a warehouse shelf for who knows how long and past experience has shown that all that "dead" causes more problems with diatoms/algae/cyano,etc...

The size will also cause problems with it blowing around with decent flow.. Caribsea special grade is just about perfect for "medium" flow tanks...
