Help with Sick Fish

Ok, so I am having my first run in with a problem with my fish... My powder blue tang is showing a few white spots on this fins and is now scratching his sides on my rock. I am assuming that I have a problem and need to do something about it. I am setting up my QT right now and it won't be ready for until it cycles - so maybe another week or two. He has been in my tank for about 6 6 weeks now, with 4 weeks immediately prior being in hypo. He is a great eater - mysis shrimp, algae, and any pellets I give drop in, and his appetite hasn't changed. He seems to be outwardly more territorial since this has begun - not sure if this is relevant.

Long story short, I am just wondering what I may be battling and how best to treat it in QT.

Thanks

Agreed, given the symptoms you describe. The troubling part of this is that you had the fish in hyposalinity for 4 weeks and once introduced, he became ill. You either have ich in your system and the tang contracted it when introduced, or the fish had the parasite and the hyposalinity was ineffective. What other fish do you have in the main tank? Any symptoms with them?

The tang was the first fish into a brand new system that was running for approximately 3 months without fish. After adding the tang, I added a cleaner wrasse, Bartlett's Anthias, and Spotted Blenny. No symptoms with the other fish, other than the Anthias seems to be hiding in the rocks a little more, but I feel that is because the tang has acted more territorial and chases him around. The tang did not get show symptoms until about 4-6 weeks after the other fish were introduced, and was fine for about 4 weeks prior with no fish.

I didn't QT the other fish. I had them brought in by LFS who housed them for 4 weeks for observation before I brought them home.

They may have been carriers of ich and although they may not show any signs of it and may be healthy enough to fight it off they could have introduced it into your tank. PBT's are notorious for catching it if its in the tank. I would treat all the fish in hypo and keep the display fish free for at least 6 weeks. Is this a reef or Fish only?
