I have not been happy with the tank flow in my 65g lately and need some help. I am using an Eheim 1262 for my return, and have three Sicce Voyager 3, and one Voyager 4. Two of the four power heads I run on Sicce's Wavemaker.
I have my SPS on a ledge half way up the tank. Two of the powerheads are mounted up high in opposite corners, pointed down towards the colony, utilizing the wave maker. One is running 24/7, mounted lower in the back of the tank, creating movement around my rock work. The last is mounted up high, running 24/7, pointing down towards the colony, at a different angle than the rest.
In terms of in tank movement, I am at like 5600 gph with just powerheads. The return pumps adds another 900 gph. This would total 6500 gph in water movement in my 65g. I figured this would be sufficient.
I am trying to achieve more random, turbulent flow; as opposed to laminar. Any thoughts on repositioning the powerhead to achieve this? I could buy a 2 way AC splitter, and place all 4 powerheads on the wave maker.
Now I do have a Sicce Voyager HP 7 on hand which puts out 2800 gph. That's more than 2x that of the Voyager3. I could use that and replace one of the other powerheads, but it's such a beast that I think it may be overkill and blow my clowns clear across the tank.
Any input would be appreciated.
