Help with this sump?

Hey guys,
I just bought a used 75gal tank with overflow and it came with this sump. But I'm not sure if I can modify this to what I need. I'm doing a reef tank, so I don't think I need a wet/dry filter, which is what I believe this is. It's made of acrylic. Is it possible or worth it to modify? or should I start over with something else? I plan on using an internal return pump btw.
Thanks.

Does it hold water?
If so it can certainly be used (with modification) as a sump..
Modifications depend on your needs/equipment,etc..
Also this all depends on your ability to be "handy"... ever used a drill? a jigsaw? solvent welded acrylic?

Well, it holds water and I can use a drill and jigsaw, but I haven't really worked with acrylic before so i wasn't sure if it needs a specialty blade or adhesive. I'm mainly looking to use it as mechanical filtration and if there was room, possibly add a small refugium.

Acrylic work for that is pretty simple..
The pieces can be cut on a table saw and you just need weld on #4 (sci-grip 4) and a syringe..
You really just need that to make better over/under baffles then trim an opening in that top left piece to give access/room for skimmer,etc.. Maybe drill a few holes for the drain pipes to come in..

Not much to it..

Just use a filter sock in the drain. If there is room for a skimmer perfect.Just let it run.You probably will not have to drill or anything else for that matter.
