Help with Tissue issue

It's a pagoda cup. I've had one for years, pretty hardy.
I've never had issue like op's. Detritus would have to sit there a long time before damage
If it keeps spreading frag it.
They are slow growers but can take lot's of abuse.
 
Pretty sure nothing sat there. I have it in a pretty decent flow.

I am familiar with fragging softer corals, but I haven't done it on anything hard like this. It feels like a rock... lol Saw off a section that includes a few polyps?? Is that right?
 
A lot of people use tile saw.

Have you tried moving it? It could be a hot spot from a particular diode, if you are using LEDs - if not, then forget that I mentioned it.
 
That is an LPS like others have stated and if it has tissue death like that, fragging wont really help you need to check your water and make sure it is ok. Those things are really hardy and should be one of the easier LPS to care for as long as your water is good.
