So my tank had an outbreak a couple weeks ago of what we believed to be ich. My wife and I began treating the fish for ich, but they started dying. I did more research and realized the problem was not ich, but actually velvet. I feel dumb for not setting up a quarantine tank before introducing fish to my tank, which I'm now paying for. My two remaining fish are a coral beauty and a matted filefish. The coral beauty is now covered in the velvet, which appears to have popped up overnight and the filefish seems completely unaffected. I cannot treat my tank for velvet because I have live rock and corals in it. I was offered a 10 gallon tank which I could use as a hospital tank and possibly later a quarantine tank, but I'm unsure how to get cycled water in the tank quickly to transfer the two fish over. So basically what I'm asking is

1) what should I do about getting cycled water in the hospital tank? Should I add some water from my current infected tank?

2) what is the best solution for treating the fish? I've seen risks with copper, but I would be willing to try it if thats the only option. I plan on leaving the tank fishless for 6-8 weeks to kill the velvet problem.

3) after setting up the hospital tank, should I give my fish a fresh dip before acclimating them to the new tank or just after?

Thank you in advance, this site has been a life saver with getting to know this hobby. Hoping I can get through this without losing my last two fish!
