Help with water alternatives.

I'm currently using the Tap Water Filer by API but the replacement cartridges are too expensive so I was wondering what's a cheaper alternative for good water for my aquarium? I was thinking of getting it from a LFS but they sell it for $5 a gallon. I know some people get their water from the supermarket but I have no idea which type to get. If I go to Publix for example, what I'm I looking for, distilled water, drinking water? Any help on this subject would be appreciated.

I used to use a 50/50 mix of the walmart drinking water (which is 0 on all tests) and distilled \.

I would buy the GE drinking water filter for your tap the refills are only like 12 bucks each.

Why not just buy a RODI unit. It will save you time and money, in the long run. Plus better water quality.

coming from miami there are plenty of lcoal shops that sell ro water thats the best thing to use for topping off or making ur salt water....if thats not available then distilled water.

HABS, hows your algae and cyano? Never heard of anyone that could just use tap water!

Alge is next to zero a few little spots nothign to much and the cyano we had a small outbreak when the system was just about a month and a half old and none since that time. We run carbon 24/7 and fluval bio media and rowaphos in our fluval 204 canister filter on our 31. A penguin 100 biowheel filter on the 10 gal with some zoos and a firefish in it this is in our kids room.

I plan on buying a RO/DI unit when I get more money. This is just a temp solution until I get a new job. I don't want to start using tap water now and ruin everything.
