bought this rock on sunday brung it home it opened up a lil like seen in photo but all day monday and to day they are closed up though maybe light shock bc the tank it was in at lfs lights sucked two t8s so put on the sb and kinda in a shaded area. also all params are perfect any ideas

You acclimate? not just temp wise.... ie "floating the bag" water on water?
what lights are you running now?

Hit it with a flash light at night and see if you see anything bothering the colony..

did you dip them before you put them in the tank,if not try giving them a dip.i use seachem reef dip.

ok i will look tonight. also what do you mean dip and they were fine at the store i have been looking to get them for a couple of weeks and now this just my luck lol

That happened to me as well. At the fish store, the zoanthids were looking great. I brought them home and acclimated them perfectly. The water quality is great too. I dipped them and everything. They didn't open and even now they're still not open. They have a yellowish ring around their tips. It seems to me that they have zoapox.

You might want to check yours for something bothering them like mentioned or look to see if they have the symptoms of zoapox.

i would highly recommend dipping them, just for peace of mind. but also be patient, they can take a while to open up.

i tried dipping them but no luck all but about 15 -20 died hopefully these last ones make it

Keith......I know your other older Zoas are doing Ok as u said, but just how did u accumlate these new ones, the biggie or the drip mehod ??? I others here say they just toss 'em in after temp adj....but for we pay for the critters...what's the hurry:rollface:

Now u said your parms are good what exactly is your NO3 and how do u check it....the other Zoas in there have had a lot of time to slowly adj to ever changing tank parms BUT not new ones.....I highly doubt there was a pox on them as you watched them for awhile @ LFS...right >???

Hopefully the bal will get used to your system...oh ya check out the VC (vitiamn C) thread as it has alot of good stuff on Zoas....all this is just my $0.02 of course....by posting your updates WE all learn....
