Hello, sorry to hear about your polyp retraction. In all honesty, no one can honestly tell you why your polyps are retracting by looking at your picture without some extensive input from you. Theoretically, nothing is wrong with them, then again, I can think of several things, but you have to give us more, that we may help you. Please click on this link which is a sticky at the top of this page, and share as much as possible. Thanks
Temp 81.8 Specific Gravity 1.025 PH 7.9 ALK 11.2 dkh NH3 0 NO2 0 NO3 2.0 PO4 0.08 CA 450. At this time i do not have test kits for anything else. The tank is 17 X 19 X 27 this coral is placed around the middle of the tank the lighting is T5 1 White 10000 and 1 Antic.
Alk is kinda high too. How long have you had them? Do you have other zoos?I think I see some more in the back that are closed as well. Did you dip them when you got them?
I have had them for 3 weeks and I don't do anything to increase the ALK. PH tends to be 8.1 if I check it in the evening I did do my weekly water change to get the PH a little higher. And no I did not dip them the store I got them said there was no need to.
You should never add a coral to your tank without dipping first. Having a coral QT tank is even better but at the very least you need to dip them. Your other parameters seem OK besides ALK being a bit off. What other tankmates are there?
Several colonies of mine will close up for a week or so once in awhile, I don't know why. I try not to worry unless i see some discoloration or missing polyps. This doesn't mean there is nothing wrong with yours, just something else to keep in mind.
This is how long it took for my second 1 polyp frag to open up. It has been the size and shape of a mechanical pencil eraser the entire time. For the first time last night I saw the disk and skirt out. Each night I have looked at it several times to make sure there were no signs of infection and because it looked healthy I left it alone.
