my tank water is out of whack ive done a 40gallon water change a few weeks ago and have been doing 15% water changes weekly since and i still have nitrates they are around 50 and im sure it has phosphates as well i am also reading a little nitrites its about .1 to .3 depending on the time of day any one have any suggestions on what to do accept take down and start over :mad2: i am running phosban and carbon everything in my tank looks great accept my button polyps they just wont open all the way they look dingy but my candy cane looks great any input would be great thanks

asm g3 skimmer 10g sump and a 12g art fuge i just recently sucked all the gunk out when i did the big water change a few weeks ago

Is the g3 producing daily skimmate for you at it's current setting? Did you do the recirc. mod and gate valve mod?

How long has the tank been set up?

Post your water parameters in full too.

Never tear a tank down and start over.

The problem was when you started it up you had all that Detritus.

He called me and he's going to call back Sun. night and I'll run the full set of tests on some water for him. He's using some dip strips so I don't believe any result. It's probably still high but maybe not that high. He has 2 mj1200's and a couple more around so I told him to add those to get the flow up. He may be just rotting from low flow too. He has a lobster that is stirring the heck out of the sandbed which is a 4" or so bed and that "could" be keeping it out of wack too. He's getting cyano in the fuge as well so I'm guessing I'll find phosphates. We'll see.
