Hi everyone,

I was at a LFS and I was looking thru their frag tank and they use pvc to seperate the prices. I was looking for zoo frags and I didn't see any. I saw a ricordia and then above it was 2 polyps of this awesome purple with green and a blue skirt zoo.I asked them if they would sell it, the owner said no, but to talk to the aquatic manager. The owner didn't even know what to sell out of their tank.

Then I go look at thier mushroom tank and I see these metallic green palys and the owner wouldn't sell me them because they were at the bottom of their rockwork. He replied call the aquatic manager Monday-Friday for a price and to see if he will sell me it.


So the question is should I offer them money for the pvc too and the zoos and just cut the pvc at home???

most LFS wont sell anything out of their "show tanks". they are for drooling purposes only. but at the same time, every LFS is a business.

even if some things say "not for sale", b/c every LFS is a business, it is IMO/IME that everything has a price. just depends on how much you wanna offer them.

if you think they are truely something special, instead of asking them how much they are. they would prob be more willing to tell you "how much is it worth to you?"

so.......offer them a price for what you think they are worth. keep in mind, most places will only do this if you offer them a generous amount. you cant really expect to get a great deal on something they aren't willing to sell normally.

He said they were in the frag tank not there show tanks, the store owner probably wanted you to talk to that guy because he didn't know what they were and didn't want to lose any money by offering them to you for a price that might not have been what they were actually worth I would buy the pvc if they want a resonable price for it seeing as you will have to cut it and attach it somewhere else.

I see what you are saying, but the owner sold me a frag that had ten polyps on it for $5 and for the price of the rock.

The next question I have is the owner wouldn't sell 5-10 polyps because they were at the bottom of their rockwork. Do stores do this???

owner prob isn't the best guy to talk to then.

i've known stores that wont go to the trouble to get polyps on a massive boulder, or something in a hard to get to place.

.....UNLESS....you were making a big purchase on other stuff. then usually the manager will go out of the way to get whatever you want as long as it doesn't incorporate tearing their tank apart to get it.

Well, I told them in 3 weeks I would probally be purchasinn 1 or 2, $270 ricordia colonies from them.
