I was wondering if there was a way to keep a fish alive in my reef during the summer as I will be away a lot. they will be fed mostly flakes for most of the summer. could a fish go with out food for a week? I would leave brine shrimp (alive) in the tank while I was away.

Depends on the type of fish. I have gone for a week without feeding. But it was a big tank, lots of room to roam, pick and scavenge. On the other hand, I had four Anthias and they require feeding 2 - 3 times a day.

It's not feeding that I'd be most concerned with. Salinity changes from lack of top off, and failure from power outages would be my first concern. ;)

Well, my parents will be able to keep up with the top off, and I can do WC as usual. I will look into a brine shrimp hatchery. Is there a way to have adults breed in a bucket? I would feed algae wafers to them.
