I purchased clown trigger roughly 3 weeks ago. He was eating great and then one slowly became very lazy. His color dimmed and I then noticed brown patches on his body. (Pic below). It has since turned into the scab looking. Any ideas for treatment or whats the disease???

I do not use a lid. It's a seventy gallon with a wet dry and skimmer. And my return pump 1200 GPH is the only flow. I have it set to about 800 to 900 GPH. My trigger is in quarantine right not and will die if I can not get him out. (No more water for any changes) ammonia building. I do not want to add him back to my main tank because of him possibly being contagious. Please tell me I can save him and put him back!!!

BTW it's now a full blown white sore/Scab. I have been treating wi copper because I thought it was velvet. He has not color except white where the brown used to be. Please help!

When you say ammonia is building up, how high is it? Could very well be ammonia burns. Why is there ammonia in the first place?

He was moved to a QT tank. I have run out of water so I cant keep ammonia low in the qt. the main tank(which he was in) has 0 ammonia 0 nitrite but battling nitrate. I was dosing with copper in qt so no bio filtration in there. Last I checked it was . 5 ppm for ammonia.

.5 ppm ammonia will kill fish. What brand copper? What brand ammonia test kit? copper should not ruin the bio filter if it was established prior. Copper will give false ammonia readings on most test kits

I agree. You sound do large WCs when ammonia shows up in any tank. DO NOT use any ammonia neutralizers (Prime, Ammo-Lock) with copper either. If this is/was velvet; all fish exposed to the Trigger need treatment. Is the pic showing the fish while in the QT? Rock makes copper treatment very difficult.
