Ok my monti cap frags turn completely white, are they dead?

that means that they bleached, they are not dead yet. put them in your tank and see if the algea comes back. not much else you can do

where should I place them high or low? Is it ok to just rest them in an area until they do better instead of gluing them right now?

place them in the middle without glue, but make sure they stay put. they could still come back

Ok check this out. The guy pm'd me and said he will replace them if i pay for overnight shipping. I don't know but it seems to me he should be paying for the whole shabang to replace. Am I wrong?

where did you get them from, a store or just another reefer?

and I do understand about the risk factor, but lets be real do you really think I should have to pay shippping twice or should he pay at least half of it if not all of it? Especialy when he assured me tha they ship well and he has done it many time before. store or just another reefer he should not exspect me to pay all of that if any. Am I worng?

you shouldnt have to pay shipping but you probably will. if he is nice he would pay half
bring it up in that thread and he might cave in and help you out

The truth finally came out he thinks I am lying. God I wish I had a camera. I even offered to pay for ups or fedex ground which is next day from him to me and he said no. He wants me to pay the 20+ bucks for overnight. Guy's don't ever buy anything from zanclus. He is a very bad dealer. Can't believe he wouldn't even go half with me on it.

its hard to come buy for good customer service, but i feel that you prolly ever wont be able to pinpoint the exact cause of the bleaching unless they came bleached or unless your tank got too hot or cold or it could be a number of reasons, and thatswhy there is a risk...umm, not to be rude or whatever but why wouldnt you want them overnight shipped, i mean you dont want corals out in shipping for a few days do you, maybe thats why they got bleached, you never know what it could be, if it were me i would take it on the chin and pay the overnight shipping, because i know there is a huge risk factor...at least hes willing to replace them for you so thats pretty cool...the pets stores dont do that on salt water stuff around here...they dont replace nothin even if it is there fault the corals were bleached....look on the bright side you can always tell people you have rare white monti caps...hahaha

Spoon they did come to me bleached and ice cold with no heat pak. The other paking was good though except no heat pak and bag leaking. The real problem I have or had with him was that when I offered to pay for shipping that was overnight he refused to ship that way. He wanted me to ship by usps overnight out of my pocket, and I wanted ups or fedex ground which is quaranteed overnight from him to me. They came to me bleached because of how he shipped not me. No heat pak come on, we're in the middle of winter and he has been in the hobby for 25+ years he should know better. As far as me wanting them overnight you best believe that is what I want. i don't want my livestock sitting in the cold taking chance they die, but at the same time I am not going to waste money for shipping that I can get cheaper and still be overnight.

i know what your sayin..i tell u what ill give you 10 towards shippin maybe get one off you when my tank starts lookin better...gotta take the chance if you really like the caps...i would try it one more time ask him to put some sort of heat pack or somethign with em...who knows he prolly sent you his his rare bleached ones...lol

Most likely is dead. There are some locals you can buy them from at meeting and you can pick them alive. Most of the people who ship or shipping companies replace the coral for you but you will have to pay the shipping. Shipping is what kills the deal since is expensive but most of the sellers should say in a deal that if the coral is dead, buyer should pay the shipping. Sorry..

I guess I was spoiled with the past servicxe I have been getting. Really expected him to at least offer to pay half, but from what I am hearing it is not customary for the seller to pay shipping only to replace product.Really hope can get to the meeting next sunday.

sorry to hear about the trouble and the bad deal i think he should have had some form of disclaimer if he was planing on not backing up his product

it would be another story if it was packed properly

yeah just chck it up as learning, for both parties involved. I just went ahead and paid the shipping for UPS. He sent it out today should be here tomorrow. This time head used a cooler and heat pak. As I said a learning experience for both of us. Will let you guys know how they do this go-round.
