Herbie users with a single overflow

I'm contemplating using a herbie style drain system for my 90g. I only have a single overflow with two 1" holes. My wife isn't keen on seeing the pipes behind the tank (the back will be visible from one side) and was wanting to keep it clean. Does anyone have pictures of their piping over the back or have a measurement of how far off the wall the tank sits?

How about having the return pipe go up and over on the back left corner of the tank? If you paint the PVC black' you'd only see it if you were looking for it.

Someone else recommended painting it and I think that's what I'm going to do. I also thought about running it over the left side, I may do that. I wanted to reduce the length of the return and the pump section of my sump is on the right most side.

Paint the PVC black and go over the back on the left. If you are worried about the extra length of PVC go with a bigger pump.

You will love the Herbie design, dead silent, safe, and moves a lot of water.

Been running mine for 6yrs trouble free.
