While working nights and obtaining my masters degree during the day I left the hobby to free up time.

NOW.... after several years I have decided to jump back in and resurrect my 34g Solana. Im excited to begin planning my tank. I have everything except a light. I do not plan to run a skimmer and plan to use mechanical filtration ie. rock rubble and bio balls. I have a couple HOB reactors too if needed.

What LED light do you recommend or use in a tank this size. I plan to keep a mixed reef tank.

I don't know if they have an option for your tank, but I upgraded my tank to Steve's LEDs, and am very happy with them.

I would go with AI hydra 26hd allows you to keep any corals. I have a ai hydra52 in my 29g biocube hood and i never mess with it once i have it set correctly. I like that its control via wifi n web base. I think the salona is open top right?

Your Solana looks nice! I just filled my tank and bought an AI Prime LED. I think it should do the job.

I looked at the ai prime as well. They are similar in spread and spectrum, so it should work fine. I just picked the mine for the price.

Also I might suggest the aquamaxx hob skimmer if you change your mind about skimmerless. It hangs perfectly behind the back chambers.

Im gonna give it a shot without the skimmer. I like a "near silent" tank

I really don’t think a skimmer is needed, just keep up with water change and you will be fine. Unless you just want a skimmer and already have one laying around. I probably only do 3 to 4 water changes per year on my 29g.
