Here's An Idea.....How to get a 210 system free! (Sort of, but not really, lol)

To help someone who may be financially unable to get my 210 gallon tank setup, I am thinking of this idea. If anyone is interested, it would probably be a job, or might not be worth the while, depending on how experienced you are. I would be willing to GIVE the tank, stand, and canopy (with no lights, just full length reflectors intact inside) to the right person who would in EXCHANGE "reef-ready" my 150 gallon that I have here. This would require having the fairly new and reliable equipment/parts yourself for this size tank that are good quality (actually would probably have to be rated much higher, since this would be a reef tank, mod-max stocked). I'm not looking for corals, fish, LR, or anything live, since we may be moving anytime in the next couple months. This would only be equipment. IE: High rated skimmer, sump w/ refugium/lighting, plumbing for closed loop, top-off container/monitor, hooking up my existing lighting in canopy of 150 (maybe we could handle that, lol), but you get the picture.

I think for the right person this will help them be able to get this large system affordably, and will help me downsize the right way. And to me, that is more important than making money on the sale of it anyways.

Needless to say, this person would need to be qualified to do this type of work, which basically just means that they are familiar with, and have done system installs before, and know what they are doing. References would be great, so that I know my livingroom won't become Shamu's Stadium. lol.

OK, that's about it. Trying to keep it short and sweet. We can get into details later if this sounds like a good idea to you. Let me know.

:D

Yes, plus........doing the installation of the equipment, or showing me how to do the installation of the equipment, THE RIGHT WAY.

I know, I'm on the other end of the Earth, lol. Can you define "help" for me? Is this an offer to help if I buy the pieces, or help to take the 210 off my hands for getting the equipment/installing it all? I'm assuming it's the earlier, not the latter.

What??????? Now I feel stupid because I have no idea why you would think this thread makes YOU feel stupid? Am I missing something....??

it should be the latter- just need to know what all iam expected to buy - i want to make sure there is a end in site :-D - i would like to make it a 1 day thing - set you all up and stuff - shouldnt take too long - iam open on weekends mostly

well, i live in the Den John area, off of Mill Run, so i live relatively close to you ISlapNuts2..... we should meet up sometime, that would be cool, where in St. CLoud do you live?

I guess I would expect a reef set-up that you would want for yourself. I know that I will need an Aqua C skimmer or equivalent that is rated 250G or higher, and a very good return pump, in-line preferably like a Dart. Fans for the canopy (nice ones if they will be seen), any style sump (larger the better, might be able to use my W/D that is under the 210 if you add acrylic baffles) that will fit under the tank in the cabinet, that can be baffled for air trap, and a refugium, with the return line running to both, hook up a top off system, (like a 5 gallon bucket style or whatever), and a calcium reactor. Denitrifier would be good but not necessary so don't worry about it unless you know of a good deal. What will take the most time I figure will be doing the closed loop, which I know nothing about except what I have read on others threads, but know I will need it for directional flows, along with another pump. This is the main reason I can't go it alone, lol. I could copy the set-up from my 210, but the guy that installed it all, well let's just say, he was a minimalist and didn't set me up reefstyle like I asked him to, which is why I went to FOWLR. Besides, the water changes killed me, so if you have any advise for that as well, feel free to educate me. The only things I would transfer off my 210G setup is the lighting. I paid alot o' cash for that lighting. Might as well use it. And finally, show me how it all works together! LOL

20 minutes away from you Seth. Down Canoe Creek Road. Maybe we shouldn't meet. I am a female, and don't want to be mesmerized by your studliness.
;)
J/K! Sure, that would be great to meet some fellow reefers (someday again for me). But don't expect stuff for free from me just because you are suppose to be cute! LOL.
:D

If I wasn't so ignorant when it comes to setting this stuff up, had the equipment, or had the money I would be all over this deal...too bad I'm broke and dumb(in the art of tank construction)...

Don't worry! The tank is already constructed! I am just "outfitting" it, so to speak.

No work needs done to the actual tank/stand, except I am trying to figure out how to supply the closed loop. Most people drilled holes in the bottoms of their tanks, whereas I only have the 2 holes in the center overflow :( Don't know how that will work......that's why I need an experienced system hooker-upper to guide me in the right direction for success. I don't want to fail again because I did the wrong thing.
:(

Still selling the 210. No one had much interest for setting up my 150 in exchange for the 210, so i sold my 150 couple days ago. 210 is up for grabs as a complete set, or until I can sell off all this liverock and sand. (and the fish) So that I can empty it to then start selling seperately. Thanks.
