cool. when they hatch they will look like tiny brine shrimp swimming in the water. Your fish will go nuts for em.

Very neat. I had an emerald crab with an egg sack and it would go to the top of the rock where the current was and spew the hatchlings. My clown gobbled them up.

You can get some little snail shells. Just get yourself a few cerith snails. Mine have reproduced 3 times in 3 months. Would have been at least 4, but we thought we had some weird sort of worm (certih eggs), and I took them out. I have hundreds of the little fellas, you can find them after the lights go out when they begin to graze around the tank.

hermit crabs have a planktonic life cycle stage and thus highly unlikely any will survive to metamorphosis in a reef tank.

some snails are able to reporduce in a reef tank if their planktonic stage is very short and they settle out of the water column relatively soon after hatch.

That's pretty much what I thought. For me this was nothing more than a neat thing to see and some free food for my fishies. but hey...it's cool isnt it. hermits with eggs...it must mean that they are happy.

are you sure those are eggs?

are you sure those are eggs?

I have never heard of anyone reproducing hermits in captivity...

But good job looks diifferent thats for sure

well im not SURE they are eggs, but they look like eggs and they are in an egg sack-like formation....they were all flowy and stuff...but im no expert...you could tell me they were hermit crab money and this guy was trying to show off his $$$ for the lady crabs...id believe you.

I was doing the nightly walkby with my flashlight tonight, and actually saw one of my hermit crabs releasing it's hatchlings!!! I saw a bunch of mini shrimp like things swimming about, and moved my flashlight around to find a hermit crab releasing them out of it's shell! Thought it was pretty cool!

cool...i saw something like that in my tank one night and figured it was pods or something....now it's all starting to come together.
