Hermit Crab grew, are these eggs?

Hello. My crab was on the rock, I saw something was flowing from it, so I took the house up and then the whole body fell, I thought it died, did not know even eyes get changed… and then there were these eggs? I have one big crab and the small one. I then put the house out of water because I thought it’s dead, but then it went out a bit thankfully and I realised it’s alive and put it back to the old skin, the eggs disappeared , don’t know if she took it back to her or someone ate it, but it was a confusing situation for me

So, if I understand correctly, the hermit shed as a result of growing, and you also found eggs? The pic is a bit dark and fuzzy but, it does appear to be some kind of eggs.

I’m guessing something ate the eggs or the hatched. If they hatched, the larva will likely not survive the larval stage as any filter feeders in your tank will eat the planktonic stage.

Hermit crabs, and all crabs carry their eggs under their body until they hatch so I'm not sure where those eggs came from

ʌ+1 It's hard to believe a hermit would molt while it's carrying eggs or that it would spawn when it's getting ready to molt.

Stone crab females fertilize the eggs inside their body after sex and then molt to move the babies to the outside of their exoskeleton. Then they carry them under their tail, which is called the Apron.
