Ok guys, I am not sure what is going on, but my hermit crab is running around the tank without his shell! No, it is not a molt because he is moving around and when one of my pajama cardinals tried to eat him, he was able to fend him off.
He has some shells lying around that he can use. I think he can still fit into his old shell too. Plus, there are plenty of snails he can kill for their shells. Any thoughts?
I have attached a picture of him. When I checked parameters yesterday, I had 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and 0 nitrates. Nothing has changed in my tank either (no new fish). I am afraid he may not last long because the cardinals are nocturnal and may become more aggresive at night.
I've had him for about 1.5 years and I really like him and don't want him to die. Any good suggestions on how to keep him safe?
