Hermit crab poo?

Well, my eternal child-like curiosity forces me to ask: how do hermits poo without messing up their shells?

if you watch them long enough you will see them shoot something out of their shell. it looks like sand and itcomes out like they just turned on a hose. it comes out pretty fast too!!!!
