Hermit ID please

I am looking to identify this hermit.
I had emailed this to 1 on line company that sells CUC, and their answer was that it was a Starry Eyed hermit, but I'm not thinking so based on other pics I've seen and info given on Starry Eyed hermits.
This little fella has been missing for a good 6mo and I'm looking to replace him, but need to know what it is 1st.
He was in a 125 for several years, and in that time I've never noticed any size change, or changing of his shell.
He was never up in the reef, always down in the sand, cleaning it like a machine. He was always very curious and would be right near my cleaning instruments to see what things I might be digging up. He never bothered any other hermits or any other inhabitants for that matter.
This hermit was found in the wild in Florida (or so I am told), what part I do not know.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Petrochirus diogenes maybe? To be honest I'm not exactly sure but thats the closest thing I could find..

How big was he?

The reason I don't think it was a "giant hermit" is because he never seemed to grow. He didn't seem like he was outgrowing his shell either.(although I suppose that is a possibility, and might be why he's MIA)
The size you see in the pic is a standard turbo snail shell a little less than the size of a ping pong ball.

Is the sand sifting behavior typical of the Giant Hermit?

They're little bulldozers. They'll mow everything down dead or alive eventually and is a good reason why it should be in a species setup or a very large tank with very large fish.

Usually once you get into the Blue knuckle, halloween, and orange knuckle hermits you got to keep an eye on them.. and then anything after that is a real threat.

Hermit crabs can live over 30 years I believe.. they are slow growers.. I used to have a land hermit that was 5 years old in my house and never gained a centimeter in size.

I had heard that of the Giant's, but this little guy never bothered anyone. Sowed no interest in other hermits that he would come into contact with or snails either. Very peaceful, I'd say unusually so for a hermit of any type. But as you can see in the video, he kept the sand spotless, 24/7 churning it over looking for little micro fauna and such to graze on.

I had one of those but lost it in the upgrade... id give my left leg to get a couple more. greatest sand cleaner i had. ive looked around a lot but never found a definite Id. might be a speckled hermit? http://reefguide.org/speckeledhermit.html
but mine was small and stayed small like you said. they may have them for sale at www.reefreal.com but again im not totally sure its the same

Thank you for your input.

Yes I too would love to find these available, I would buy at least 100 if I could.
