Hermit repopulation?

Here is one for you. I bought 5 hermits about two months ago. Have seen two deadheads swirling around on sand floor at different times, weeks apart. I still have 5 hermit crabs.

Go figure.

The crabs molt their skin and what they leave behind is so similar to the live animal that we often mistake them for dead. It's quite a surprise for newbies!

Silly me. Never thought of that even though just 12 feet away I have Cherry shrimp tank. I guess what threw me off was the vividness of the color still in the molt instead of being drab and white. I feel like an idiot.....oh man.

I remember the first time my cleaner shrimp molted. All I could think about was the thirty bucks down the drain. I was sure he was a goner, so don't feel bad. A lot of us fell for that joke.

That always happens to me with the shrimps, than a month later they run out a crack in the live rock and raid what ever I target feed my corals.
