hey,
how's the daily WC experiment going?

i'm doing daily WC's right now with a 20% change every 2 weeks. i'm curious to hear how it's going for you, if your still doing it.

I'm doing 4X/ week on my 5.5 and that seems to work fine. I scoop out a cup and pour in a cup.

I went back to weekly on the tens for a couple of reasons.

Doing daily water changes I neglected the other maintenence. There was never an hour where I scraped the glass, blew off the rocks, etc, . Also when I did the first weekly change after a while of daily changes I discovered that a lot of detritus had accumulated in the return pump chamber/aquaclear (two different tanks). Draining those chambers down and adding a gallon of fresh saltwater really flushed a lot of crud out of them. When the crud hit the tank I could see polyps opening to feed.

I'd also clean the 5.5 since the equipment was out.


I think either way works, but my personality requires I block out a period of time dedicated to doing the tasks necessary to have the best tanks possible.


Obviously that's just my opinion........

cool, thanks for the update Agu. the maintenance issue that you talked about is the reason why i'm going to keep up with the bi-weekly 20% changes...that'll give me a chance to siphon detritus, and give the tank a good "once over" every few weeks.
