Hello fellow Zoa keepers. I'm new to the hobby, I have a 55 gallon tank about 5 months old. My water parameters are:
Ammonia 0
Nitrate and nitrite 0
Calcium: 480
Alkalinity: 4.5 meq/L
Phosphates: equal or below 0.1
Ph: 8.1
Love the zoas and plan on making them a big part of what I collect. Any advice on params would be appreciated. I picked up this frag about a month and a half ago. They have gotten bigger and one or two more polyps on the ceramic frag, do they look good and just keep going in this direction? I have three firefish, two black ocellaris, and a yellow wrasse with around 12 snails and 12 hermits. I don't bother feeding them anything. Also I don't currently test for magnesium, how concerned should I be with that?

Hey, nice frag, I had one just like that but lost it recently. I'd test magnesium, always good to make sure the big three, alk, calc, and mag, are in the target range. You could probably get away with letting the nitrates range a bit higher, zoas tend to like dirtier water.

Thanks. Yeah I'll grab a magnesium test soon. To think when I first got into this hobby my LFS told me not to worry about a test kit, lol. Took me all of a week to figure that isn't right.

What kind are they, I forget what the coral place said, I think coacoa puffs?

With the orange center/mouth and green I'd say either Green Bay Packers, or Reverse Gorilla Nipples. Depends if the skirt is green or brown. Can't tell from my phone, green is the former, brown the latter.
