Hey guys,

So I purchased my first coral about a week ago, and it was a small rock of Zoos. I had to choose between ones with a green skirt or a orange skirt, so I went for the orange ones, hoping I can get the green ones at a later date.

I got home and put the rock in my tank and they all opened up. About a week later I noticed something green on the underside of the rock. So today I turned the rock around a bit and BAM there's some green ones on the underside.

If anyone could Identify them I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mario

Good question.
Zoas, like most corals, are extremely aggressive animals. They grow and kill other animals and plants for ground.
So when these two colonies meet on this rock, they will begin to try and kill/overgrow the other. If you wait long enough you will get to see the winning colony intertwine it's mat throughout and over the losing colony's mat. By that time, you'll be fighting the winning colony for a frag of the loser.

Seperate them now before it gets that far.

Cheers;)

I wish. I'd have some cool looking zoa rocks by now.
The top ones look like ring of fire and the green skirts look like dragon eyes. Both extremely nice corals.;)

Hey,

Thanks for the great advice guys, I will read up on fragging tonight and do it first thing tommorow morning.

I don't know what I would do without this place.

Thanks again,
Mario
