I have no clue what is going on I've had two clowns and now my engineer goby is about to die water parameters are great I'm lost right now my yellow tang is fine to peppermint shrimp are fine corals look great I have no clue what is going on any help please. Only thing that has changed in the past week is added a new RW 15 power head could this have caused the random deaths:mad2:

Also on the clowns there were no signs of being picked on or anything like that they did not look in any way shape or form sick they were both just sitting on the bottom of the tank dead my engineer goby has like a film all the way over his whole body I don't know what it is

I know the first thing people are going to ask for is parameters, tank size, when stuff was last added, did you QT, etc. That information will be a great help to figuring out what is wrong.

Ammonia 0 nitrate 5 nitrite 0 Ph 8.1 temp 77.9 last fish added was yellow tang about 3 weeks and powerhead on Christmas day

Did the tang get quarantined? Are you adding anything? Dosing? How big is your tank? Do you run a sump? What is in your Sump?

Did you QT? What's the tank size? Did you mix up the nitrIte and nitrAte numbers? Nitrites indicate you're not done cycling.

Numbers not mixed and 55 display 20 gallon sump. Have 10 pounds of sand and 10 pounds or live rock in refugium part of sump am not dosing anything and no quarantine I don't have one yet

Well I'm at a loss engineer goby just died. Whatever wrong is wiping out my face quick only thing left is yellow tang setting up a quarantine tank tomorrow hoping to switch him into it and treat for possible I think it might be velvet doesn't look like it looks like a film on their body

is the yellow tang fine? any sign of sickness? maybe it was flukes, bacterial infections, parasites, etc. maybe the yellow tang brought them. or maybe it was already in the tank since you didn't quarantine the clowns and the goby and the introduction of yellow tang caused them stress resulting in low immunity and eventually death.

that's why quarantining is recommended. it'll save many fish' lives and your money. i'm not being a tang police here but 55g is not suitable for a yellow tang if you plan to keep the fish long term.
