Well, Im going to bed a happy girl. Tonight after the little one went to bed, I set up my spiffy new 3g pico! Its the cutest little tank, and I am already excited about getting sexy shrimp for it. Now I have a question. When I set it up, I used rock and water from my established tank, but I used old no so live l/s. With the rock and the water from my tank, will it be enough to keep me from having cycle? Im not in a rush to add the shrimp to the tank, but I want to know what I might be getting my hands into. :)

I would take a cup of live sand from the 40g reef, hubby's 55g reef, or 30 reef and add to the not so live sand. But that's just me.

With the cured rock from the DT, you are at very low risk for any sort of cycle. The only way is if you disturbed the LR in some way that caused a little die off. Unlikely, but a possibility.

As for the sand, I would seed it with a few spoonfulls of sand from your DT. Just spread it around a bit and the bacteria will do the rest. No risk for cycle there.

Sounds like a nice little tank! Post pics soon!

hope this helps
