Hide and Seek? Maroon

Roast

New member
Hey all,

I got a male maroon clown fish that has started digging under one of my figi rocks. Usually, he is out and about swimming throughout the tank. I just noticed this morning his new behavior. I have brislte worms in the same rock he is digging under. Is is safe to say that he's looking for that, although, not the smartest idea. At one point he almost looked like he was fighting with something?

Inaddition, there is a female maroon in the tank. Are they preparing to breed? And one more thing, when he's not digging, he's laying on the bottom almost completely up-side-down. He does swim just fine when I taunted him with food.

The only new addition that I have added is a frogspawn (which is doing great) and a 18watt light instead of the original 9watt. I have cut down the run time hours to slowly get everyone used to it. My corals love it, but my clowns tend to look for shade.

An unfortunite update

An unfortunite update

Well, after not seeing my maroon for some time, I decided to investigate. I found him, dead, underneith the fiji I had said above. I think his cause of death was from a bristle worm, because as I set the rock back down after retrieving Duke I saw a worm re seeding back into the belly of the best that is my fiji from the scene of the crime!

Plan of action? I understand that bristles are bad, and there are some mixed reviews. It is obvious that these things need to go. Luckily, my other clown stays on the other side of the tank by the frogspawn. The only coral I have on the fiji right now is a Xenia. Would pulling the fiji out and letting it dry so the worms dry out as well be a bad idea or good? I have counted a total of 5 worms while the rock has been in my posession. I am P.O.d I lost that clown. He and the other got along so well. :(

I am trying to upload pictures from the crime before the incident to better understand his behavior.

Feeding back needed ASAP about pulling my fiji out of the tank!

I would put the rocks the worms are in in a high salinity water. This will make them want to move out and try and find a new home.:)

I see. Will this damage all other life on the rock? I see you're trying to get me to save some innocent beings. Thanks

It will not kill all. Some will pull through. Its better than letting it all dry out.By letting some life live on the rock still they will repopulate and the rock will be better than being dryed out.
