i picked up a blue fin flasher wrasse 4 days ago and i havent seen it since the first day. i was out for a few hours the first day but has since gone into hiding. the other fish i have in there is a lubbocks fairy, mcoskers falsher, melanurus wrasse, and 2 clowns. i know that fish can sometimes hide for a few days but when should i start to worry. all my other fish came out after 3 days or less.

dang 9 days is a long time. i guess i'll give him another day, maybe 2, before i start the search

If you "search" look behind your fish tank. If it died inside your tank its already gone, so dont bother. If its alive it will come out, no sense in disturbing your aquarium and stressing out your other fish.

I hope he shows up soon!

ok, its now been a week and still no sighting. however, a blue flasher wrasse that i thought had died nearly 3 weeks ago was spotted when i was feeding today. i threw some mysis in front of where he was hiding and he too a chuck and went back into hiding. any suggestions on what i can do to help the little guy?

Check your water parameters, if you've got a problem there it will echo throughout everything's biorhythm in the system. If you can, a fish trap has worked for me in the past as well.

They will always come out to eat, and you can use that appetite against them! Once it's in the trap, you could put it in quarantine to closely monitor it's behavior.

Good luck!

You obviously have enough hiding spaces & I don't see anything really aggressive in your fish list, but something is keeping them from feeling comfortable enough to come out. What size is the tank? I would definitely check water parameters too.

I had a baby black fish hide for over a month I thought he was dead. It was in my basement I even shut off the filters then I went down there to redo the tank and he was swimming around. I know it's a cold water fish, but anything can happen.

my parameters were off but i have since corrected everything last saturday. I did i fairly slowly(over the course of 4 days). My alk/cal/mag were all low but its better now and the dosing pumps should keep it that way. my sps have all shown improvements already.
currently my params are"
ALK: 9.6
Cal:450
Mag: 1350
Nitrates: undetectable
Phos: undetectable
PH:8.0-8.1
Temp: constant 78.5

This is all in a 75g
I'll try and build an acrylic aclimation chamber, then try to catch the little guy. thnx for the advice. I hope it was the params that gave him a scare cause he was out in the open for 2months+

I am having this same issue right now with a pair of blue throat triggers I added last Tuesday. I see the male poke his head Out of his cave just long enough to see what is going on and that's it. I haven't seen the female since I put her in. I have not even seen them eat yet. All the water parmas look good, nothing unusual. I have tried garlic soaked food. Any other tactics that may entice them to come out of hiding and eat?

Well, I still don't see any reason for them to still be shy, tank's not too small I don't think. I could be wrong, though, since it's almost all wrasses & I've never kept multiples of different kinds. Are the clowns acting aggressive at all? I know my coris is a nervous fish & will hide for little reason.

the clowns havent been aggressive to anyone but me when i put my hand in the tank and the melanurus when it hangs around the hammer coral...
