hey
i tested, for the first time, the levels of the magnesium in my aquarium.
to my surprise, it was 1350 PPM.
i tested with the salifert kit, and did it twice to be sure.
i did it twice, because i dont add any magnesium or trace elements to my aquarium. i use calcium reactor with special media from israel. i dont think its dolomite (its white, like limestone).
i really dont know from where i am getting the magnesium.
may be from the media it self?
it doesnt make any sense, from where the hell iam getting those high results??
my alk is 9 DKH , calcium is 480, ph 7.8, nitrate 7.5, nitrite 0, amonia 0.
thank you
udi

IMO, 1350 ppm is fine, and is the amount present in many salt mixes. I recommend 1250-1350 ppm magnesium. Magnesium is not typically rapidly depleted, and the reactor may easily balance the loses if it has an appropriate amount in it (not all do, however). . :)

Some salt mixes have excessively high magnesium. So you might check your mix to see what level it has.
