High Nitrates?

hadn't seen a reduction in nitrates. Did a 40% water change (45gal). tested after the water change and i went from 20ppm, to 2ppm. I didn't test the water prior to the water change, but i think i probably got some of the reduction from the Seachem denitrate and also the water change.

Do you make or buy your water and have you tested the water for total dissolved solids. If the total dissolved solids are high you could be adding to the issue you are having. How many fish do you have in the tank and how large a tank is it?

I had been purchasing water from a LFS, but I reciently (about 3 weeks ago) purchased a Air,Water and Ice Typhooon III RODI. The TDS in runs 167 and out is 0. I never did test the water from the LFS, but I suspect this could have been some of the problem. I have a 90 gallon tank with a 15 gal sump and 10 gal fuge, so really the water change was only a 39% water change. (I was rounding). I have a few fish: Yellow Tang, Sailfin Tang, Red Hawkfish, Coral Beauty and Two Clownfish.
