High Nutrient Macro Algae/Sea Grass Reef

Here is a link that really shows Deer Lakes disc golf course. It's all 18 holes so you may only want to watch a little to just get a feel for the course. Even the video does not capture just how steep some of the ravines are.

What is great about disc golf is that the courses are free, and even a starter set of discs at Dunham"s is about $20. You can play it very competitively or you can play and not even bother keeping score, it's all up to you. Either way it's good exercise and it's great to be outside in the woods.

Wow, that looks challenging. Those guys made it look easy, almost. Thanks for the link!

Yes they do make it look easy! It's really bad when I watched it and they got a par 3 on hole 1 and I am estatic to get a 5! LOL. I just tell myself that Is am a girl so of course I can't throw it as far as them. Then there is the fact that I have a few years on them too. Anyway I can pretty effectively rationalize away why my score is woefully higher than theirs, Ha ha!!!!

I caught another glimpse of Rice Krispies. Actually just his front legs and claw. I am pretty sure that he is not sharing his burrow with any masked gobies. I probably need to send a turkey baster of food down that den so he gets enough to eat. I do not notice food being swept down there when I am feeding and pistol shrimp's see so poorly that he needs all the help he can get.

At least one of the masked gobies is sharing a den with the fire fish goby.

I love the curlique nem but he has effectively stung to death my bird's-nest and neon trumpet! Bummer, everyone is fine yesterday and now dead today! Uhhg, competing creatures can be exasperating!

Nooo! It's always a risk with anemones I guess. I've been fortunate enough to never have that happen to me, knock on wood. Any surviving bits? I would be surprised if at least a single polyp of that trumpet didn't recover.

Very cool that the masked goby and the firefish are sharing burrows. Sometimes my lawnmower blenny hangs out in the engineer goby's tunnel.

I do not see any surviving polyps but one never knows?
Yes, it's kind of cool that 2 fish of separate species can dwell together. Ocean creatures never cease to amaze me!

The ocean is so vast and although the coral reefs no doubt have animals competing for the best hidey holes and dens, I am thinking it's probably rare for separate species to pair up unless it's one of the known symbiotic relationships.

My tank specifically only being a 56 gallon but having a lot of animals in that limited space has perhaps even necessitated un-natural pairing up. I will say that it is kind of cool to see. It shows the resilient's of creatures to adapt to their circumstances.

Today I cleaned up the display tank of straggler caulerpa and also some bubble algae. The bubble algae has not been as bad as it has in the past probably because the caulerpa is hogging up all the nutrients.

I also saw some neon trumpet flesh so I moved the frag to a new location totally away from the Medusa curlique nem! Hopefully it is not damaged beyond repair. At least it has a chance.

Nice video. I could watch that for hours! You've got a great fish/coral/macro/invertebrate community going on there. Tank looks great too.

Thanks Michael. I also feel that way and last night and this morning with the tank all cleaned up it is so satisfying just chillin' on the sofa and watching everything. It almost makes me so content that I don't think of making any future changes, LOL.

Tank is rockin! Does the cleaner shrimp clean some of your fish, or are they too small? I'm guessing Tommy is a client.

Thank you ThePurple! The cleaner shrimp often cleaned Marmalade. That is why I think Marmalade succumbed to disease/parasites. I suspect Marmalade had a problem before I got Tommy but then the harassment stressed the blenny to the point where the disease got a foothold.

Anyway I have never noticed any of the other fish being cleaned, not even Tommy. I know a lot of tangs can be ich magnets but Tommy shows no signs, not does anyone else. Which is surprising considering how many fish I have.

It's a nice feeling, but it's only temporary! Knowing how you like to tinker, you'll be ready to change something soon. Me too. But it is nice to relax and enjoy occasionally, especially when everything is just so.

Didn't you mention adding some shoal grass to your display? That sounds fun!
