high or low flow when feeding sps

are u sure it doesnt matter? im worried that to high of a flow that the tiny particles will wiz right by the sps before they can catch it. am i off with my logic?

i guess in the ocean the eat in high flow

Sps only feed at night . during the day all nurients are absorbed at the base not from the polyps, there photosynthetic corals for feeding in the day oster feast and stuff does nothing , Thats why the bottle say feed when light are off . So flow mines nothing for feeding

Sps make there own food during the day from there zoanthids

To say that SPS only feed at night is wrong though. I've watched my SPS take in cyclopeeze during the day after I feed the tank. SPS will feed whenever they have the opportunity.

If you have PE you can feed, if the polyps are retracted you can't. It doesn't matter if is day or night. You can see the polyps taking food. My corals got their breakfast 5 minutes ago. They had BBS for breakfast.

If you look when the light are off the polpy ext it way more then during the day . This is when thay feed. Read about poply ext and zoanthids it will tell you the difference from day and night. And no PE is from bad lighting or water conditions

Shortly after you start feeding, PE increases. As soon as a polyp gets food it retracts. When the mouth is fool it will not make the effort to extend the polyp, but it is going to do it soon after.

It increases because when feeding water gets cloady and poply ext more for light not for food

This is part of the artical. ____ corals can gain energy from light during the daytime and feed at night when zooplankton is most abundant. This is the most energy efficient way for corals to maximize their energy intake.

That doesn't mean corals don't feed during the day. Your interpretation of this statement is simply incorrectly. Corals feed at night primarily because zooplankton concentration is several times higher (as much as 5 times higher is not uncommon) during the night so it's more efficient for them to catch and eat. It's all about food availability and efficient use of energy. It has relatively little to do with light (except to avoid predation during day time).

Yes thay feed during the day only if need . But to feed oster feast and foods is not good for systems that are nutrient systems , Food is alway there for them , But for ULNS sps feed 24/7 do to no nurtients or food in the system at all . Alot of hobbyist add food to there tanks not knowing that its not needed, especially when there tank have alot of fish and feed heavily.
