High performance chiller system

I'm looking for anyone's experience with aquaria or other aquatic systems with extreme cooling requirements. In a nutshell, I need to get a 1200 gallon system about 40 degrees F below ambient temperature.

And no, it's not for penguins, polar bears or Maine lobsters... But close.

Thanks for the input.

At what approximate temperature is 40 degress below ambient temp.
Regardless, you are probably looking at needing what they genrally refer to as research chillers. These typically designed to cool between 40 - 60 or 40 - 80 degrees F. Standard aquarium chiller is designed for temps. between 60 - 80 degrees. I have no experience with these other than knowing that they are signifigantly more expensive than the standard aquarium chillers, especially for the HP you are going to need. If 40 degrees isn't cool enough, I have no idea if anything is designed to get you down to just above freezing. I'm sure there is but ...

A few of the manufacturers that make the aquarium chillers used for our hobby also make the research types. Aqualogic and Universal Marine are two that I am sure make them. Tradewinds may as well.
