hello

i have a new tank running 16 days now, and the ph is at 8.8 i think, im using chemicals to test and then compare to color chart, ph is difficult because the color range is not really wide, see purple for 8.4, violet for 8.8 but i get kinda the same color on test tube, ill probably buy an electronic ph later on, anyways, how can i lower ph???? i have a berlin system going on, LR, LS, skkimer, thanks

ps, maybe the ph is high because the tank is new, please help

I would not do something until it is certain that the PH is that high, usually new tanks run low so doublecheck it and be sure. You do not want to fix something that is not broken.
Did you used purified water or water from your tap?.

it has 46 gallons of r/o water mixed with salt, everything started ok and all of the sudden it went up, it has been like that for almost 3-4 days, i have no livestock, except for hithikers

Check your alkalinity, cycleing consumes alkalinity and low alkalinity may give you high PH swings.

The best way to lower PH is pump Co2 into your tank. Do it slowly . I would check to see is there anything wrong with my test kit first. That is my 2 cents
