Everyone, this is my first problem (other than popeye with a clown) that I've had with my fish since I've been doing saltwater...(lost a damsel in the cycling stages, they are devils anyways!)

Anyways, just noticed today and has spots all over her....Have had the fish for a year and a half and never ran into any problems. I've been looking into the best options and not sure if any good treatments are out to put in the reef. I found this one (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4615+4616+19768&pcatid=19768) that is reef safe and contains no copper! Please let me know what experience you've had with it. I'm going try to catch her and put her in QT but dives into rock any time anything goes into tank! Thanks in advance!
 
or Kick-ICH...I'm going to try to catch tang but want something to put in tank before I start seeing other fish get ich!!! Please leave me anything you feel could help!!!
 
I'd be curious to see what others think about NO-ICH marine also. Drs. Foster and Smith just started carrying it. It sounds too good to be true - effective and safe to put in the tank.

I, too, after about one year, just developed ich in my 2 FOWLR tanks. A trigger and a foxface have it, although they seem to be tolerating it well. I'm using garlic and prayer.

Anyone know about this NO-ICH marine? Thanks.
 
I also thought it looked much alike and seems to contain the same things. I think my gameplan is to get my QT tank filled with saltwater today (been a while since I've got any fish as I'm waiting to get bigger tank). After it has filled I'm going to treat tang in QT....Then want to treat DT with some ich treatment to ensure other fish don't catch the bug? Anyone think that using the NO-ICH or KICK-ICH would be good for my situation?
 
I'm hoping I can get this ordered today-early morning and start putting in DT. Going to try to get something local for the immediate care of fish with ICH. My other fish don't seem to have it but just wanted to make sure no ICH was in DT!
 
IMO there is no reef-safe medication for ich. Your best bet is a copper medication in a hospital tank. I wouldn't put any medication in your DT. Check out the threads on ich.
 
I've got to catch her first in the morning and was just wondering if any products were out that would help ensure that the ICH disappears from DT. I don't want to risk losing coral in DT at this point! What period of time should I wait once the ICH seems to clear from my tang?
 
Thanks freed...I've also seen where you can dip the fish in freshwater and then put back in tank 3-5 seconds later and that will help rid the fish of ICH. I'm sure this has some of the same effects on the parasite as this article states. Thanks everyone....my QT tank is good to go now so I'm ready to start treating my fish....
 
Sorry but that is not true. It MAY help rid a few ich here and there but will not cure all of the ich in various areas/stages on the fish. It is NOT a cure.
 
I'm going to use a combination of the two....I dipped her in the freshwater bath this morning and then am going to follow instructions from article Freed pointed me to. I had cichlids and have been in saltwater for a year and a half and had never had ich because I thought my husbandry of the tank was always rather good! Lost one engineer goby in that year and a half and that was because he decided to commit suicide by burying himself under a rock!
 
Also, one more question...Anyone ever used cleaner wrasse's to help keep ICH away. LFS told me this (not always dependable) and said that they had a customer that had a tang that kept getting ICH and they put a cleaner wrasse in with it and never had any problems. I've already got cleaner shrimp in my tank and the tang will never let them pick at her as do most of the others. If the shrimp cannot get to her, I'm not sure that a cleaner wrasse would either!
 
Most cleaner wrasse will die in captivity. Most, not all. They usually only feed on parasites, flaking skin, etc on fish and are usually extremely hard to get to eating frozen foods or other foods in captivity. They cannot live solely on ich. Would not go off of what an LFS says. They are usually only trying to make a sale. Some are straight forward but ALOT are only in it for the money.
 
I know about the LFS and some plot to make "money"...lol! I've been just exploring all possibilities as this is what we do! I've been reading about them since I posted that and seem to keep only 1-2 months. This is not okay with me and will not support LFS in its endevor to make "money". Anyways, I'm planning doing what I said earlier and will keep you briefed. I appreciate the help Freed and really hate to see my fish suffering, really amazing how attached we get to the fish....
 
Also, my dependable LFS went under about 6 months ago so I have no honest LFS left around. They were honest and always wanted to make sure all fish were compatible and would let me hold fish for a week to ensure they lived at the LFS. I'm in search of another great LFS and still have not found one. I guess I'm going to have to resort to using liveaquaria.com which many love and continue to use ReefCentral as my support and advice. I've learned so much about the hobby from the site.
